The Challenge

Proof of Search is fortunate to have partnered up with a Swiss-based crypto start-up group to source an experienced and talented industry guru. This Head of Product appointment would support their mission to create a business for both crypto and fiat transactions across Europe and ensure a frictionless cross-border client experience.

The Group was in the process of initiating a crypto exchange and custody business when they approached Proof of Search in 2022. The connection came via a prior appointment in which PoS Founder, Kevin, had teamed up with one of the Group’s founding partners to successfully scale and launch an imperative project.

Being a start-up firm, the Group sought a recruitment partner that had a complete understanding of, and experience within, the Crypto sector. They were looking for a firm that knew the competitor landscape, were acquainted with the tech stack needed, and had current relationships with Product Specialists.

The Solution

The PoS team worked closely with the Founders to learn the Group’s hiring business model, and to gain an intimate understanding of the role spec and its impact within the organisation. PoS consulted on the profiles to narrow down the traits and talents of the candidate that would result in the strongest of matches for the job.

Over a period of 2 months, the requirements evolved – such is the nature of the position and sector – and most candidates were not proactively considering new roles. PoS responded to the challenge by unlocking and leveraging the Group’s values, mission, and employee proposition to promote greater meaning and purpose that would really help sell the opportunity to potential candidates.

This approach proved rewarding and after the requirements were sharpened, the candidate screening was followed by a swift, two-stage interview process – which was carried out online, followed by a face-to face with the Founders. Due to the tight time constraints of the assignment, the team ensured that the process, from shortlisting to offer stage, took no longer than two weeks – meeting the quality and timing requirements which were initially laid out. And the match was complete.
